Giovanni Venosta

Composer, pianist and professor.

I was born in Udine, October 8, 1961. In my childhood I spent four years in Rome and one in Florence (the infamous year of the flood!), living in a nice first floor apartment overlooking Arno river. In 1967 I finally settled in Milan with my family.

When I was seven years old I started taking private piano lessons, and then began to attend Conservatory in 1972, getting my diploma in 1983.

Fairly embittered by the Academy’s attitude (by the way, my application for the composition course was rejected without any explaination), I promised myself not to touch a keyboard for a while, thus arousing the “joy” of my parents and my teacher, Mrs Giuliana Marchi, who was already looking forward to my career as a pianist, especially given my good score in the final exam.

Just a couple of years later…
